When you walk through
the doors of R&D, the first thing you’ll notice is it’ll
be welcoming, friendly. You feel like your voice is
valued your ideas are valued,
people listen to you. You’re solving problems that
haven’t been solved before. Exploring new technologies
to keep BBC relevant. You really do feel drawn into that
and totally inspired everyday. Being at R&D is like the dream. R&D is at the forefront of these
really big questions about society, about the way we do things,
about culture. So things around data,
around human values, around the future of media and
the shape of media to come. You feel like you really
are in a pivotal moment. The the things we do the
things we work on, really change people’s lives.
They really affect people. It’s a very exciting place
to be because you get influence the industry as
well as the rest of the BBC. We have a big name, but that with
big responsibility comes a big opportunity as well to make a change. We’re working together across
the teams to deliver layer upon layer towards answers.
You could be responsible for doing that. R&D is a
really diverse and inclusive place. That diversity in background is
really what’s driving the freedom I think cos it’s easy to be
yourself and share your ideas. Do you fit in? Come and join us and
bring the benefit of you to us. The change you’ll make through
your diversity of ideas and life experience could be transformative.
It could make the difference. And we starting to realise
that the skill sets that are not from traditional academic
backgrounds are really essential. The common quality is
everybody’s super nice, people do care about each other,
and that is quite unique. The thing about R&D is that it’s a
family. A family of people dedicated to the future, to working on services
that make people’s lives better. This is very much my passion.
We stand for something. I still have to pinch myself
that I’m actually here. I think if you’re interested
in exploring new technologies. Or you have ideas, there will
be a place for you here, definitely.
