Welcome to the first edition of the Mane
Issue Wallace State Student News for the fall 2019 semester I’m Lacey Johnson and
I’m Brooke Noris we’ll be taking a look at events news and what’s happening on
campus there are many great student life events planned this semester are you
interested in joining the student government associations stop by the
information session today being held in the Student Center at 12:30 p.m. if you
can’t make the meeting please contact the Dakota Nichols at [email protected] or call two five six three five two eight four one two for
more information today at 5 p.m. there will be a dorm local meeting and the
Bailey Center on the 12th floor for all dorm residents join the Wallace State
running Club 4:30 p.m. every Monday and Wednesday at the Wellness Center weather
permitting all runners joggers and walkers are welcome remember this club
is open to all Wallace State students faculty and staff coming up on Wednesday
August 28th there will be a meet the lions ice cream party in the Student
Center from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Trivia Tuesday starts back on September
3rd come by and test your trivia knowledge in the Student Center from 11
a.m. to 1 p.m. on September 18th there will be a
financial forum from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the Bailey Center auditorium
stop by and get some information on saving and managing your money campus
ministries is having a fall retreat on September 13th and 14th contact our
campus Minister Christie Nicks at two five six three three eight four four six eight

eight two zero nine the Wallace State Future Foundation have scholarships remaining
from the Women’s Fund of Greater Alabama these scholarships are for single
mothers from Blount County enrolled in stem programs such as welding
mechatronics engineering technology and computer science those interested should

four new AmeriCorps vistas there are openings in the community garden small
farm trainings alumni foundation support and career readiness these are one year
full-time service opportunities they are a chance to start the community build a
year of work experience and are rewarded with a small living stipend and $5,000
scholarship that can be applied to its further education or student loans those
interested can apply can learn more and apply at AmeriCorps gov or contact

Wallace State Community College’s Department of Nursing Education has
announced a joint enrollment agreement with the University of Alabama at
Birmingham that will allow Wallace State students a seamless pathway from an
associate degree to a bachelor’s degree in nursing

Monday September 2nd is the Labor Day holiday and the college will be closed
the Evelyn Burrow Museum at Wallace State Community College in Hanceville announces a
new exhibition on loan from Troy university Alabama art inside out which
will be on display in the museum’s main gallery through September 30th Alabama
art inside out originated as an artistic endeavor by the internationally
acclaimed artist Nall to reveal to the world the work of fellow Alabama
artists who embodied in the spirit and style of this home state Nall saw
these artists as important courageous and ambitious from art made of found
materials to stories told through photography in history and immortalized in
the threads that find a quilt Nall’s portrait series and collection reveal
both beauty and hardship here are some important dates to remember for the
fall 2019 semester dorm move in August 15th fall classes begin August 19th and in
December 16th fall 2019 flex term 1 begins August 19th through October 7
tuition refund checks for classes beginning before August 26 begin mailing
August 30th fall graduation applications are due September 4th last day
withdrawal is November 18th fall 2019 flex turn to begins October 9th and ends
December 16th we continue to appreciate your patience that our transition to the
new OneACCS system if you’re a returning student please log into
blackboard using your A# along with the same password you use for prior
term new students should log in using their A# and a default password
that is comprised of !ACCS plus your date of birth and month date
and your format for example if your birthday is 5/03/1999 then your password
would be !ACCS05031999 your blackboard email
and loin alert logins will all be the same
Wallace State is now offering a new associate in science general studies transfer program
option and forensic psychology the intro course introduction
to forensic psychology CRJ/PSY 222 offered online this fall check the fall
semester schedule or speak to your advisor for more details a number of new
programs have been added recently at Wallace State given students more options for
their education here are new programs you may want to look into ADN to BSN
program with UAB starting spring 2020 AS General Studies transfer
Diagnostic Medical Sonography June 1st deadline to apply Dance Geospatial
Technology Global Studies Medical Laboratory Assistant new option and
medical laboratory technician openings available for fall of 2019 free tutoring
is offered to all Wallace State students through our tutoring lab get help with
Math English Science Computer Science Writing and more the Tutoring Lab is
located in the Bailey Center on the eighth floor hours are Monday through
Thursday 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Fridays to 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
