Greatest acting ever period !!
When I first saw Robert de Niro in this guise I thought he was wearing a cushion fastened to his pants. I was wrong
truth breathing beauty
“I remember those cheers,They still ring in my ears,And for years they remain in my thoughts.‘Cause one night I took off my robe,And what’d I do? I forgot to wear shorts.I recall every fall, every hook, every jab,The worst way a guy can get rid of his flab,As you know, my life wasn’t drab.Though I’d rather hear you cheerWhen I delve into Shakespeare …‘A horse! A horse! My kingdom for a horse!’I haven’t had a winner in six months. And though I’m no Olivier,If he fought Sugar Ray, he would sayThat the thing ain’t the ring, it’s the play.So give me a stageWhere this bull here can rage,And though I can fight,I’d much rather recite. That’s entertainment.”
Incredible and this is only the beginning of the film.
That's a fine piece of acting
Give me a stage where this bull here can rage…
That cut from the medium to the close up, to the same close up 23 years earlier is so smooth. UGH!!!!
I would prefer this as the ending scene.
An extremely poetic monologue.
Though I’d much…
Though I’d rather hear you cheer, when you delve…
Though I’d rather hear you cheer, when I delve into Shakespeare,
“A horse, a horse, my kingdom for a horse”,
I haven’t had a winner in six months.
Though I am no Olivier, I would much rather…
And though I am no Olivier, if he fought Sugar Ray he would say
That the thing ain't the ring, it’s the play.
So give me a stage, where this bull here can rage,
And though I could fight, I’d much rather recite,
For once I was blind, but now I can see.
" Give me s stage where this bull here can rage"……
De Niro's shining moment! God he was so fucking good in this film! Superb acting!
This single clip of 1:12 minutes has more acting in it than most actors can offer in an entire film. Powerful!! That's Entertainment!!!!!
The shock of this scene, when I saw it released the first time, realising what De Niro did to himself. I will never forget it!
That´s acting baby!
a cinematic masterpiece…I get chills down my spine watching this…never seen a better beginning and end, cinematography wise, to a movie…
Though Id much
Though Id rather hear you cheer when you delve
Though Id rather hear you cheer when I delve into Shakespeare
A horse! A horse! My kingdom for a horse!
I havent had a winner in six months.
And though Im no Olivier, I would much rather
And though Im no Olivier, if he fought Sugar Ray
He would say that the thing aint the ring, its the play.
So, give me a stage where this bull here can rage.
And though I can fight, Id much rather recite.
the monologue of monologues
Uh, most people here who speak English don't know what he's saying, so don't feel bad. I'm glad people put up the text.
Questo è spettacolo …
laurence olivier, famous actor
Sorry about my syupid question but who is Olivier he mentioned.
I think this movie was DeNiro's finest work. But the monologue still reminds me of a skit John Candy did for SCTV: a commericial for a restaurant called "Jake LaMotta's Raging Bull-B-Que". "We got burgers, we got fries, we'll cook 'em here before your eyes…Da da di da..That's Entertainment…"
Robert DeNiro Legend!
what a performance!!! 1 of the best ever great actor..
