Hello everyone. Welcome to Sign1News. I’m Jethro Wooddall. Here are your top stories for today. President Trump is set to deliver his second State of the Union address tonight at 9 PM Eastern time. His theme: Choosing greatness. The President will address the high cost of prescription drugs, infrastructure and national security. But with less than two weeks until the government
is scheduled to shut down again, Trump is also expected to make some not-so-bipartisan
remarks, like sticking with his demand for border wall funding and possibly declaring
a state of emergency to get the wall built. Sign1News will be streaming the speech live tonight at 9 PM Eastern time with sign language interpretation. Be sure to tune in. On Monday federal prosecutors in New York
subpoenaed President Trump’s inaugural committee. The Manhattan US Attorney’s office is demanding
the committee turn over documents related to donors, vendors and finances. That includes anything related to the possibility
of donations made by foreign nationals. According to the subpoena, prosecutors are
investigating a laundry list of possible crimes, including mail fraud, wire fraud, money laundering and conspiracy against the US, just to name a few. A committee spokesperson confirmed receipt of the subpoena and said the committee intends to cooperate. Could somebody have killed the Godfather of
Soul James Brown? The iconic singer died at 73 years old in
an Atlanta hospital in 2006. At least 13 people, including the doctor who signed Brown’s death certificate think someone killed him. His official cause of death was a heart attack
and fluid in the lungs. However in a three-part investigative series,
Doctor Marvin Crawford tells CNN he doesn’t believe Brown could have gone from as healthy
as he was to death so quickly. Now there are new calls for a forensic investigation. Crawford says he initially asked for an autopsy
but Brown’s daughter said no. The series also examines the 1996 death of
Brown’s third wife Adrienne Brown. An informant alleges she was murdered by a
doctor who administered a fatal drug overdose. Measles infections are continuing to pop up
across the nation in at 10 states and now Texas, where officials are reporting three
cases in Harris County. And cases are continuing to spike in Clark
County, Washington where they now have at least 49 cases. The public health director there says the
outbreak is not only endangering the health of the community, but it’s also seriously
hurting the health department’s resources. As cases flare up, staffing is getting spread
thin and the outbreak is also putting the county and state under major financial strain. And according to the county’s health officer
Doctor Alan Melnick, he is expecting the outbreak to get worse. Santa Claus may have to use a different route
for his annual trip around the globe. Earth’s magnetic North Pole is shifting. Compasses use polar points to help navigation systems, so these changes could make GPS services less accurate. The next world magnetic model was set to be
released at the end of this year by the National Centers for Environmental Information. But scientists released a new model Tuesday
ahead of schedule due to the unplanned variations in the Earth’s magnetic poles. Scientists say the early update will help
ensure safe navigation for federal agencies like NASA, military services and other consumer
apps that rely on GPS services. And those are your top stories for today. I’m Jethro Wooddall. Thank you for watching Sign1News. Remember to like us on Facebook and follow
