Installing POI’s and Speed Cameras on VW Discover Media After installing your POI’s on a (FAT32- formatted) SD card via POIbase, insert it in the designated slot in your car (glove compartment). The data now has to be installed manually Click the Setup symbol on the bottom right. Manage Memory Update MyPOIs Confirm with Update. The system then displays the POI database to be installed, Click Next. The data will be installed. Only one database can be installed at once due to technical restrictions. But as it will be overwritten every time you update your POI’s, you don’t have to delete them manually. If you want to change your POI selection, you can just select different POI categories on POIbase on your PC, install them on your SD card, and then reinstall them in the car. When the system has finished updating, confirm with OK. And you’ll enter map view. Now the POI’s have to be activated for display. Hit “Setup” again “Map” “Select Categories for POI” Here you’ll see both the POIbase POI’s, and the POI’s that were installed by the manufacturer. Due to technical restrictions a max. of 10 categories can be installed at the same time. Hence we installed the speed camera bundles for fixed and mobile speed cameras respectively. Here we have the mobile speed cameras. And here the fixed ones. The advantage of data bundles is that they allow you to install more categories. For instance the camping guide. Or emergency-duty pharmacies. Once you have activated the POI’s you want to display, you can return to map view. And you’ll see the POI’s on the map. Clicking on a camping POI, you can view more details. That one didn’t have much information. Let’s try this one. This one has the email address, guest ratings, telephone number, and opening times. The pharmacies are another good example, as you can see on the map if they are open Clicking on the POI displays details. Like the telephone number. For the speed cameras, you’ll want warnings, and they have to be activated. Go to “Setup”. “Nav. announcements”. Activate “Note MyPois”. It’s already activated in this case.
If it’s not, just click on it, and you’ll be warned when approaching a speed camera. These are the petrol stations we installed. They are divided into categories The green ones are the cheapest The yellow ones are average price. The red ones are expensive. Click on the icon for details. You’ll see the prices and when they were last updated. You can select a POI as destination, and navigate to it directly. Visit POIbase.com for more information. And use our software to easily install points of interest on your sat nav.
