Net Neutrality [RAP NEWS 25]

Net Neutrality [RAP NEWS 25]

To seize this moment, we have to ensure free and full exchange of information. That starts with an open internet. Rap News is back through with fresh Juice to inject after reporting on wars, sports and militant threats in distant states, the time has shifted hence to focus on our own native homeland: The Internet. Join us as we flip the switch to the highest gear and set our course towards one area of our hypersphere, the World-Wide Web. Meet its inventor: Tim Berners-Lee.
– How are we? – Couldn’t be better!
– As it should be! The Web is a Wonderful forum for human interaction, open to all. Sharing, blogging and vlogging,
lolling and trolling in all forms open source wikipedias; free media, and of course… porn! – How does it all work so flawlessly well? – Ahh… well, gather round boys and girls
and hear the story I tell. From the days of its hypertext genesis in my NeXT machine the architecture of the Net as we know it today was built on a fundamental principle: Net Neutrality! Which states that all data must be treated equally.
– And that means? – It means your ISP has to let all content get through the pipe connections
at identical speed and momentum whether it’s Ebay or Netflix, your home-made video or PORN, none can step in, block, filter or slow it down.
– We take this for granted. – We do, and yet it is what made
the Internet so ‘cool’ and ‘epic’. – So all voices are treated the same under this system, whether they’re big business or some random nerd in a bedroom?
– Very good question! Come with me and let’s meet figures
from both ends of that spectrum – Terrence Moonseed!
– Robert, I’m honestly I’m in awe of this invention the advent of the net is one of the most awesome events to have ever taken place in all of history
and it awoke me to the true conspiracies that are hidden from us: chemtrails, UFOs and reptilians! Through YouTube I found gurus, like Bashar, Icke and Jones, accrued my views of who truly runs
the globe, monarch mind controls and seen that we are not alone in the universe! And clearly I’ve served humanity by spamming
the Net with my academic theories – Zuckerberg?
– The fuckin world should thank net neutrality for giving me the capacity to start
a company and immediately savagely school, humiliate, clown, beat down and righteously pwn the biggest players around town. ‘cuz without a doubt without the
clout of this protocol threaded tight Google couldn’t beat that pile of excrement, Excite; YouTube couldn’t get ahead of Google Videos; and I couldn’t create Facebook and
be the billionaire with most Likes. – …And without Face-spook, I couldn’t
have exposed the all-seeing eye and spread the truth that his company
is an Illuminazi DARPA controlled spy I’m working from the inside to crash it down – And I’m crying all the way to my online bank account. – Yo people, know what: it might seem like a plot
– but believe it or not, – even though he’s an evil sucker of Beelzebub’s cock
– and he’s a twat – On the topic of neutrality being locked
– in this Net that we’ve got – we both agree that it’s got to be defended at all cost! – I’m pleasantly shocked! the internet unites even disparate parties to its cause! Well, that brings our World Wide Web tour to a close. Good day to you all, join us again for more episodes. – Hoooooold up… whoah whoah whoah wait a minute minute minute, boys and girls Allow me to introduce myself to the world: I’m from VeriCast, telcom giant, freshly just merged here to sell you the new Interwebs to emerge. – And you are?
– De Berg… William De Berg business-man, and a business, man; any problem, I fix I got ninety nine solutions to any given sitch bitches, my lekker elevator pitch consists of smacking the fuck out of Jay-Z in a lift. – Uhm…
– Don’t be afraid. I illuminate you real quick this complex babble of neutrality. I liberate you from this You chinas like to stream flix, share your pics, play games, watch lots of clips… – And porn.
– Kif And now, bru, we have a new product to make our service even more hi-tech.
– You do? – Ja and it’s fres
The Internet that you’re used to is past tense I bring you the future: the APARTNET! – The APARTNET?
– That is correct. Based on an old South African tactic that was a success It means a policy of separate Internets: With a super-fast zef highway that’s strictly for rich bitch clients who pay extra for it. And a slow-mo, super-shit narrow
lame lane for… well, everyone else. check the effects… – Thiiiis iiiis the Aaaapoooocaaaalyyyypse – Taaaake myy mooooneeeeey,
juuust maaaaake it stoooop pleeease! – This breaks the sacred principle of Net Neutrality!! – You break my balls, and the sacred principle of stacking money. – Surely this policy will never receive approval from the FCC! Let us check with its new Chairman and see… – Howzit, bra, how can I help you?
– Wait… But you are… – Committed to the Internet, ja! Sure, I spent the past twenty years lobbying for VeriCast but I’m pro Net Newtravesty… uh… Neutrality. Cross my heart. But sadly our hands are tied on this subject. – Why’s that?
– The Court handed down a judgement. – Well, then we should speak to the Judges… – At your service.
– Hang on a bit… – In the case of VeriCast versus FCC,
on the murder of Net Neutrality, we find the latter in breach of the free market economy – Objection! – Overruled! – Order order! You can’t regulate broadband feeds. Apartnet is legit. Case closed. – Uh… what does that even mean? And who are you, really?
– Ok, honestly: We’ve been watching you Net users constantly and noticed that thanks to open Net policies you’ve raised your net consciousness promptly But this anomaly has been horribly costly weakening our monopoly on reality. So, apologies, but we have to abolish the key quality which makes the Net so empowering: neutrality. – You’ll face the wrath of the online community! – Ha… Let’s meet the average Net user, shall we? – ‘Save Net Neutrality?’ sounds ghey
LOL hashtag:SWAG. Selfie – Need I say more… hashtag: apathy. We close this chapter on a note that’s ominous But this battle is only just getting started with confidence. And it involves you and the entire populace. For like an ecosystem, the Net, affects and connects all of us. All? Well, not quite: the children of our future time, and two thirds of us today are still offline. Can we ensure that the billions yet to connect will inherit the benefits of a neutral, open Internet? History will be defined by the fate of the Net. If you are here today, you can play a role in shaping it. For a start: head to this part of the web, give this page a click and tell the FCC that you’re not going to take this shit. This report was brought to you via the Internet the most open, free network to appear in history yet. The price of such liberty, openness and privilege, dear netizens, is our eternal vigilance. [EN] You should put in place Arabic subtitles on your videos, 300 million people will have the possibility to understand it 😉 😉

Good job, I love your videos 😀

[FR] Vous devriez mettre en place des sous-titres Arabes, le fait qu'elles soient absentes empêchent 300 millions de personnes de comprendre la vidéo 😉 😉

Bon boulot, j'adore vos vidéos et votre conception de voir les choses.

  • TheOrionStargazer says:

Say "Hello!" to world wide regulation. Thanks FCC we love this Orwellian situation you have helped usher in.
     *(fuckin bastards)*

  • What happens when countries have their own internet firewalls, etc China ,Russia, US EU, the world will become more divided?

like today only a minority use proxy ips, to bypass such, walls.

    truly the Apart-Net.

  • I hate to admit it, but William De Berg is actually right on this one. Although TWC makes a crud ton of money doing this, it is actually much more beneficial this way.

    Let me explain:

The FCC is going to attempt to regulate the internet under the jurisdiction of phone based services. That means that the GOVERNMENT is going to be in charge now.

Your going to be subject to tax now, and in reality your going to be losing MORE money than you saved.

There is always strings attached to everything, you didn't honestly believe that barrack buildeberg Obama actually supports something that is beneficial to Americans do you?

    Same with bush.

The whole left-right paradigm is false, both parties are working for the collective interests of the lobbyists and capitalists.

At LEAST there are some people in congress who are fighting it I suppose, probably for the wrong reasons though :/

its easy to censor the internet or societyy ,all you have to do is creat a think tank and propaganda to get people to destroy that which is in their own interest, NEt nuetrality.

  • So once there was a sheep that was very gullible one day the sheep met a "friendly" wolf who told the sheep all about a group of foxes that were close by. The sheep became quite alarmed and asked what ever shall I do. The wolf replied climb into my mouth I will hide you till the group of foxes passes by. The sheep was very grateful and hopped right into the wolfs mouth. As you can imagine this did not end well for the sheep. Was the wolf lying about the foxes? Would it have made any difference if he was telling the truth. The FCC – government is the wolf for any of you who may have been confused.

Hi. Year passed, and this is still my favourite rap news episode. not only it touches troubled theme, but its a great song on its own. Thank you again for a great year!

  • Well done guys!!!!

  • In Europe the fight for Net Neutrality is nearly lost. The Countrys with big Telecommunication companys (Germany, France, Great Britain) are voting against net Neutrality. So again lobbyism wins against the people. (sorry for bad english)

  • "He's an evil sucker of Beelzebub's cock!"  …  hahaha I've hear this rap at least 20 times and I never noticed that part until now.  😀

  • Heres my question, I hope someone has an answer. Why does Bill De Berg refer to what seems to be "the masses" as "chinas" he also says it in the more recent immigration video. Im very curious…

  • still one of the best rap news episodes, this and episode 30. I'll be re-watching these for years to come. Thanks guys.

  • Terrance moonseed is exactly like every conspiracy theorist in the world: A lone nut job who spams the world with useless theories that no one believes and cares about.

  • Today, 23 August 2016, the WWW turns 25 – a quarter century. Now we just have to defend its neutrality & ensure all 7b of us can access it by the time it turns 50.

  • Thank you for all of your great videos! You're awesome! #JillNotHill #VoteGreen2016 #BreakThe2PartyTrap #NeverHillaryOrTrump #NeverHillary #NeverTrump #ItsInOurHands

  • Dude, holy shit! This is the second time I noticed Rap News parodying Die Antwoord. When Bill de Berg comes in and says 'Whoah hold up wait a minute boys and girls' its from 'fatty boom boom', I think?

  • StopFundingIsrael says:

Spread the word now more than ever… This beast Verizon has shown its vile face again…. Please tell these mongrels to maintain title 2 and Net Neutrality… Visit:

  • Veritas Aequitas says:

They've taken Storm Front and The Daily Stormer down. The internet is not free. Even if you disagree with the message, you should fight till the death for their right to say it.

  • Came back to this after the seemingly hundreds of times they've tried to kill Net Neutrality, and it's happening again. This shit has to stop.

  • Kicking and screaming unheard, big brother government tries wrenching the Internet torn from the population, taken out of the people's hands. Sold-out US government is standing before big money grubbing common carriers for energetically backing worst deal of all time. Of invaluable worth to the whole world, our Net is at dire risk, being presented to greedy business interests for a paltry 0.000tiny percent of its market value -if we that easy give up. However,, , that is a least of it. All we have is this WildWoolyWonderfulWorldWideWeb technology. Exclusive found online content is convenient, serious research aid. Once the Net as we have known was gone, it is just lost forever. Petitioning government would not get it back. Overwhelming majority on knees appealing, praying, calling on deaf ears, for registering wishes to keep neutrality, is not working. Unofficially never opened, then officially closed, FCC NPRM has not, nor have all our attempted government contacts made any difference. Trump card stacked deck, regulatory commission game bet sure thing win for telecoms. Effort of responding to NPRM was meant to divert attention, while public opinion was just ignored, disrespected and totally disregarded, suppressed. Meanwhile capitalist money enabled, corporate owned and operated, mass broadcast and print media outlets, commercial anuses, brainwashed the weakest minded still tuned in to privatized channels insinuating warnings, trumpet blared elsewhere, that harboring notions prohibited by the benevolent violent state will get you eternal damned nation in karzrashun[sp?]. Unappeased we were, confused at worst and distracted by diabolic, legal contorted process; yet not this time yielding, insufficiently fooled by self-appointed empty shirts hoping to pull another fast one over on us concerning the most important overarching issue of all time maybe. Micromanaged mainstream media personalities delivered their usual bum steers, messages fed through telecom shills clamoring, stammering and stuttering on air. Their rote answers failed miserably, as incoherent, tangled spiels falling flat; unable to fend off even softball questions. Tight lipped top government pay grade level Ajit Pai, often minimally prompted, appeared to suit huge, profits-driven print media and broadcast companies. Though some were misled down the primrose path toward misinformation, most are not persauded. No doubt Pravda also looses readers. Tehran TV viewers spend time much better online, gaining smarts, learning answers to issues of their own choice burning and pressing. Our Internet is the peoples' medium, not to be put under capitalist ownership control for another denied looming world economic disaster to sneak up, economic collapse debacle after previous calamity finally driving financial capitalist markets to ruin, a last one let accelerate us headlong toward continuing our mad dash plumb to mushroom cloud world doom. Last century, clout wielding pilot's associations vector guided us around worst FAA proposals; centerline landing on rules good for all, certainly not been diverted to deregulation. This FCC flies a nuclear bomb, below radar. Prearranged FCC vote is predetermined, contrived to let deregulated ISPs be national racketeers fixing prices. We have seen plenty sold out from under the masses for benefiting the 1%. Dirty excess political access this time steals our Internet, game thrown, rigged under federal House and Senate rules allowing ace in the hole cheating. Corporate Henchmen bided time just waiting to scrap Title II Net neutrality, regardless, all along. Private industrial tail wags the world. Do proactively oppose encroachment of creeping kleptocracy, oligarchy cum plutocracy, able and willing to be kettled, crowd controlled, held at bay, corralled, ultimately threatened with worse than Kent State University and and Jackson State College massacres, as many citizens as necessary killed by National Guard troopers called Minutemen, supposedly reminiscent of 18th century Revolutionary ragtags hiding behind trees for facing down mindless, disciplined rows of Redcoat muskets. After standing up to obscenely weaponized, government /corporate mercenary forces, at risk of tear gas, water canon, and arrest, survivors will face worse. Real jail time with pockets and bank accounts robbed, perhaps past negative empty, in two ways awards personal funds to the state /prison industrial complex, as erstaz justice worst mistreats those brave souls having taken it to the streets. Domestic terror on a massive scale renders several levels of misapplied jurisprudence, undue punishment as unjust reward. Sly, deceptive, conniving slave-wage-worker addicted capitalist system overlords plot consciously and deliberately to continue shoving humanity into total subjugation. Videoing anathema, unsympathetic to badges, especially subalterns at protests get beaten bloody, cellphones confiscated. If we let our Internet go, the human race is likelier finished. More commoners can be held in contempt, until voiceless, kept outside political discourse, some may finally be classed below migrant workers and house servants, considered utterly disposable status, liable for death sentence according to explosive, volatile tempers of cops granted summary judgement power to instantly execute who is on spot deemed sub-human. Severest unfortunates are outcasts. Generations of dystopian society relegate them to lowest rung. Even abject slaves look down on refugees whose forebears' got their property dispossessed and other rights worst stolen, for in perpetuity made subclass denizens born to be untouchables discriminated against, deprived, universally despised wondering hordes with no homeland. US police departments issue not-toy weapons to sneakily secretly trained, trigger happy cops, instructing them to dominate using ever more overt, deadlier tactics; unconscionably goaded and egged on, allowed or even told to set up people for video game style real killings. Killer cops are promised furnished fake, cover-up investigations enabling sham prosecution, with any legal requirement left over from former people's justice days shot down by resorting to that old worn out defense proven successful, perhaps forevermore. Although straining any normally sane credulity, it works satisfactory for purposes powers that be, in their kangaroo courts. A simple, legal claim that the deceased villain caused valiant hero cops to fear for their own safety increasingly surely returns not-guilty verdicts built upon precedent cases unchallenged prior. If still required, trial becomes merest formality, just a shuffled paperwork trail of how wheels of blind justice greased spun, ostensibly presumed to be agreed on by all to significantly aid civilized peacekeeping. Cops kill and go back out to repeatedly do the same again, in a hegemonic society, thought-controlled by mainstream media, convinced that anarchy nipped in the bud depends on random drivers with a burned out tail light be stopped and, when not suitably reverently respectfully complying with the particular officer's wishes as serving a fine ticket, shot dead. Motto on sides of city cruisers reads: No Compunction Against Stooping Below And Beneath The Call Of Duty. The peoples' interests are not risked being left unguarded, but defended and protected, at all costs, with help of that ridiculously thinnest of alibis: “I was afraid" –which never seems to wear thin with aloof benches, high above supreme natural law elevated themselves raised. The people are lulled to sleep, literally senseless, preconditioned with public service doctored propaganda pronouncements delivered over commercial sponsored media. Deprived of any lessons about good governance taught in state schooling classes, kids are reminded to just forget whatever democratically seditious precepts might get whispered in hallways. We are molded into celebrity worshipers averse to others of our kind, paying no attention to either of twin, uncomfortable to think of, inconvenient, crucial truths: two Swords of Damacles hang over the planet. Presently in 2017, except via the Internet, exposure to critical thinking is scarce. Constantly bombarded by lies, this Net is our last blessed bastion of fresh, independent real news instantly available from sources of personal integrity, professional journalists of sincere character. Roving mics, after their regular job, if lucky enough to have one, or just a day's gig, can question for soliciting personal answers from average dumbfucks, out and about unwinding, after their own daily toil –with their cams showing clearly how off base some can be. We need to know that too. Now, 75% x 99% = most of a collective national conscience is clear, heads clouded. Under all different sorts of brilliantly amateurish YouTube uploads are unexpected comments. Any may contribute views for exchanges between individuals sharing questions and linking to similar other online answers; or take exception as well. Widest ever community disagreement is up for chaotic discussion. Horizons are broadened, minds boggled. People awaken, curiosity peaked. Rulers in positions of wicked authority fear us swapping original thought and creative ideas which might lead to too many getting it, more apt to realize how we can come together against them in numbers, if our Internet stayed free and out from under their control.

  • Tomi Panula-Ontto says:

Interestingly now that GDPR is in EU, many USA media companies closed their sites for european users.

  • I just found your channel and have been very impressed (and entertained) but its damn depressing to see that you've bought into the statist propaganda of "net neutrality". Across the world, who has a worse history of internet censorship, "big businesses" or governments? Who would you rather have restricting your access, an ISP where you could just choose to work with their competitor or the state, where you have no choice how they insert themselves into your voluntary relationships?

  • Adding laws to internet traffic that has always been treated based on protocol and priority and data type in different ways because it has to be to work and work efficiently on the PHYSICAL infrastructure that it really is and owned by 10o0's of ISP's gateways and data centers around the world and the major investing businesses who put billions into running 100's of fiberoptic lines between nations at the bottom of the ocean in investments will only result in government institutional control of the internet and information rather then it remaining free domain and open for entry to anyone as it has been. Calling something like a bill the fuzzy bunny bill doesn't tell you what the bill does as it leaves out the book of regulation, funding, and laws past the label. The internet became what it is now without regulation and government control and that is why it is what it is now, it's corporations like google and facebook that want to run a data center and a website that ISP's who have much larger investment costs and actually own the hardware connecting you to what you request through communication protocol be forced to pay for anything websites do that may cause network failures. To prevent slowdowns to gamers and web browsing using the same isp who might be far larger in numbers caused by some people all watching some 4k stream in the same region that is hosted by let us say netflix who are being paid by the viewers should have to pay for the bandwidth they are using on the ISPs and the isps should be allow to make a contract with netflix to build NEW dedicated physical network paths that is rented so that netflix can offer a service that doesn't disrupt people who pay something like comcast for general internet connections through comcasts network connected to the network of networks that is the internet. It isn't exact cheap to run fiberoptic lines everywhere in the world and that is what ISP have to do, web hosts do not, they simply make something available and ensure they can upload enough.
Maybe in a disaster area police and first respondents can't connect because out digital communications network is flooded with a million people making calls and a damaged regional infrastructure, shouldn't priority here be given to police, medical, & fire emergency personal?

Net Neutrality is when government has no part of or say in it's implementation and laws don't exist preventing anyone from creating, hosting, and introducing new parts of it. You will permanently attach current large telecommunications corporations and kill incentives to invest into networks if you pass new laws with the government to control them and you and to even be able to enforce these laws government will have to moderate all data centers and set up institutions with even more access to all data going over the internet. Keep the government out and the ISP's servants to it's customers and giving customers a product they want that is demanded.

  • I find it very funny that where I live the price I pay for internet has decreased while the speed has increased after the repeal of net neutrality. Guess some people have never heard of the efficiency of a free market.

  • It is interesting how this is still topical four and a half years later. I do wonder what is there to stop the rise of a second internet? I mean the whole idea is to have a network in which each segment on it is independent and create its own connections. If the WWW as we know it becomes ineffective in the way data is shared what is there to stop WWWv2 ( I know there is already something like this but this is for illustrative purposes only) from emerging and people just get on with getting on despite what corporations do?
