Meet The Media – Dublin, Ireland – hosted by TravelMedia.ie Ireland

(expanding tones) (calm piano music) – We are delighted with the success of the inaugural Meet The
Media event here in Dublin. Meet The Media 2017 saw
over 50 media turn up for pre-scheduled appointments,
over 30 worldwide suppliers from all over the world were here. A really efficient online
appointment system was used. Over 500 meetings were
scheduled in advance all online, worked
really well for the media and worked really well for the suppliers. – Very interesting day. Very wide range of different media, so a great day for us to announce our new launch of service from Dublin. – Today’s been brilliant, I met a lot of different
journalists from online, influences bloggers, it’s been a really good day. They actually know quite
a lot about Los Angeles but I think its been good to
show them a different side about different culinary,
multicultural side, different cultures, and also museums and what else we have to
offer for the destination. – Everything has been so well laid out, from the moment you arrive. Teas and coffees, lunch,
everything’s been so inviting, and we’ve already had some
really really exciting meetings. So from knowing so little,
it’s opened so many doors. – Oh I found it really really good. I was working this morning, I just drove up from
the southwest of Ireland and it’s been a great hub of activity. There’s so many people in
here to meet and greet, and it’s great to see so many
people from all over the world in one room together. – There’s such a good cross
section of representation here, so I’m getting the
opportunity to talk to them about what I do at my blog, and what we’re trying to achieve, and what we could do to work with them. – The mix so, we’ve had
bloggers, we’ve had local media, we’ve had radio stations, so
it’s been a very good day for us because that’s all the media
that we want to actually meet, to try and diversify also
the way we communicate in the market. – Really good day, lots of
interesting people to meet, lots of different backgrounds, lots of different interest in travels, so really positive. – Here for American Holidays, Travelmood, and Al Fresco Holidays, so they all know one or all of
the products which is great. The quality is really good, I mean what they’re
presenting to me in advance is really interesting as well. So I look forward to following
up with a lot of them. – I like the way that it’s structured, that you have 15 minutes with people, no more, no less, and that’s perfect. – I got to meet loads
of suppliers here today, from different tourist boards, airlines, and it’s been a
fantastic day all around. And as I said I was really impressed and I’ll definitely be back next year to check it all out again. – And today I’ve met people
from all over the world, the Caribbean, North
America, all over Europe, so yeah, beneficial to say the least. – It’s an extremely interesting event, and the fact that it’s business like, its quick, you get your
business done quickly and there’s no mucking about. – Today is going really well, I’ve met with a mixture of bloggers, and freelancers, and
national newspaper media, and we love being in Dublin for the day and getting to have face
time with everybody. – What was good about
this particular trip, obviously I know quite a
few of the media in Ireland but there’s all the new media here today. It’s always good to meet new people, and we met a lot of new people
here for the client today. – Some of the people I’ve met have been people I’ve met before
which is quite good. I’ve been with people
from Portugal, Poland, Czech Republic have been here, a lot of America which
is always good as well, because its always good
having people in one room, where you can also get
to see old colleagues, you get to see a lot of travel writers. And Ireland we still have this thing, if we’re from North or South, we don’t get to see everybody all the time so it’s always good to catch
up with a few colleagues on the travel writing scene as well. – Hello I’m Anne Pedersen
from Atout France, and I am been looking
forward to coming over here to catch up with Irish media, and to see familiar faces and also to get to know new media here. And its a great chance for us to come and show what France has to offer over the spring and summer months. – Hello I’m Petra from Czech Tourism. I’m a project manager in our
foreign office in London, and I’m here to promote Czech Republic as the wonderful destination it is. – Hi I’m Polly Beech,
and I work for Brand USA which is the destination
marketing organisation for the United States. – Hi my name is Silvija and
I’m the market specialist at the Catalan Tourist Board, and this is my colleague Aida who looks after the communication. – Hello I’m Fiona Pettitt and I’m here today representing Michigan. Michigan is one of the most
beautiful states in the US. – It’s been a great day so far. So I’ve met lots of suppliers, and that I wouldn’t have had
the chance to meet otherwise. So the Polish tourist
organisation I just met, Catalunya, I was speaking
to Riviera Travel earlier. So yeah, its been a good variety. – What we as the media
can do to kinda help them to do that really, hear what
the different tourist boards and airlines are hoping to
promote here in Ireland. And I guess it’s what
we as the media can do to kinda help them to do that really. – The approach I’ve taken is very much to get the information, to learn more, to see what’s new in destinations, to see what’s a little bit different, because that’s what we want to do is to broaden people’s horizons. So it’s been that primarily and then we obviously have contacts now and we can follow up and do research, look at possible trips
so we can feature them in the program in the future. (expanding tones)
