Laurie Brown on media coverage of Kurt Cobain’s death: The Nevermind Year bonus footage

Watch the tidy little media circus begin.
Well, you know we had these problems and they had these problems and he was this
this and this and this so it’s no wonder. This was an accident waiting to happen. I just
thought, oh please. You know it really didn’t have anything to do with Kurt
Cobain at that moment it had to do with the the feelings and the emotions of all
these young people who had invested so much of their own heart and soul into
this music and you just gotta leave it alone. So, I guess when I said it’s time
for journalists just to back off because in any situation journalists always tend
to trivialize. Trivialize the emotions at the moment and this was one of those
moments that you should just leave be because emotions were riding so high
among his fans that it was a discredit to both the fans and Kurt Cobain to try and
sum it up in a tidy two minute news item. Just couldn’t do it.
