Kim Kardashian has renamed her controversial Kimono shapewear line. The reality star turned business mogul is now rebranding her line to be called SKIMS Solutionwear. She took to social media to announce the news saying that she’s always taking feedback from fans and followers and after some “thought and consideration” she decided a name change was best. Kardashian West was heavily criticized for naming the shapewear Kimono when many found her name choice to be cultural appropriation since Kimono is the same word for an ancient Japanese style of dressing. The star spoke to the ‘WSJ Magazine’ back in July saying that her intentions in naming the brand was to play off her name. She explained that the naming process behind Kimono was “innocent” and she did not anticipated the level of backlash she received. SKIMS will be launching Sept. 10 and includes smoothing lifting and sculpting undergarments that are color and size inclusive ranging from XXS to 5XL.
