the pain of giving birth to a stillborn baby is one only their parents will know now one mom is doing what she can to help others donating a special court one of only two in the state to support grieving families Cheri Lee gave birth to her stillborn daughter America’s just nine months ago the journey through grief is still very fresh and something she wants to help other parents with she started a foundation named after her daughter and funded a cuddle cot for Gold Coast University Hospital it’s a bassinet that’s kept cold and allows parents to say goodbye to their child in their own time I would have loved to being able to spend the whole time with Americus rather than having a gone and back and gone and back again all the time and if we can give parents every second possible with their babies yeah that is all that our aim is in the past few months this cuddle cult has already been used by seven Gold Coast families I think it’s really significant in the past we’ve we’ve tried to help parents move on quickly from from losing a pregnancy but it’s well acknowledged now that this isn’t the loss of a pregnancy but the loss of the baby and having the cuddle cot allows parents to spend time with their baby so that they can be acknowledged as being parents and this is the first part of the grieving process more than two and a half thousand babies are still born in Australia every year Sheri Lee now plans to give a cot to every hospital in the nation cariann Greenbank 9 Gold Coast News
