COMMISSIONED SATURDAY IN BALTIMORE, THE ZUMWALT FEATURES AN
ELECTRONIC PROPULSION SYSTEM, WAVE-PIERCING
TUMBLEHOME HULL, STEALTH DESIGN AND THE
LATEST WARFIGHTING TECHNOLOGY. AMPHIBIOUS ASSAULT SHIP
U-S-S IWO JIMA CONDUCTED A DECK SWAP OF PERSONNEL,
SUPPLIES AND 3 SUPER STALLION’S WITH USS MESA
VERDE OFF THE COAST OF HAITI. THE IWO JIMA TOOK THE LEAD
FOR THE NAVY’S SUPPORT OF HUMANITARIAN ASSISTANCE
AND DISASTER RELIEF MISSIONS IN THE WAKE
OF HURRICANE MATTHEW. DEPARTMENT OF THE NAVY
JOINED THE DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY IN A DEDICATION
OF A SOLAR FACILITY IN CALIFORNIA. THE FACILITY WILL PROVIDE
ONE-THIRD OF THE ENERGY NEEDED TO RUN 14 NAVY AND
MARINE CORPS INSTALLATIONS MEETING THE SECRETARY OF
