1:21 my favorite TED TALK moment. Everything else pales compared to that.
i usually dislike ted talks, but this was inspiring
"When you adopt a tool you also adopt the embedded management philosophy within that tool" – Priceless and on point. Ever used an ERP? 🙂
Clay Shirky is a brilliant presenter, but making democracy more efficient will not help us much, if we still have "representatives" who do not represent us, who steal our money, get us into debt, then start wars. Real freedom is consensual government at the local level. To achieve that, the agenda must be simplified by eliminating most central legislation and decentralizing power. We will also need minimal global laws to end warfare, too. That really will be a job for Open Source techniques.
Lol I study programming at a university and Git control system in the only one we study.
Somebody please write a nice GUI for lawyers and legislators and open source it!
anybody else noticed he looks like Tom Hanks – Bold version.he also sounds a bit like him.. :>
Richard Stallman started the GNU manifesto and Linus Torvalds only wrote the Kernal for GNU/Linux!
So good. So, so, so freakin' good.<3
Great, informative talk.
this guy talking nonsense!
Aka how government will influence people. Isn't that what this is about? Complete destruction and control of the masses! Wake up sheep!
Good job and thanks 😀 Is Iceland an example of this?
One of my favorite TED talks. I've probably watched this 6 times over the last year.
Republic* not democracy. This guy doesnt know the first thing about the government.
Merging the Open Source Community's methods (GitHub) with making and managing laws… very interesting combination suggested by Clary Shirky!
I love this guy.
Whoa, you just blew my mind with that. You're so right.
Dude, culture *is* technology, and vice versa.
