An Emotional Surprise Reunion

An Emotional Surprise Reunion

– There’s someone in the
audience today who has no idea I’m about to show a video
she uploaded to Ellentube. Watch this. – Hi Ellen.
My name is Jocelyn and this is my second video. [child talks indistinctly] [laughs]
That’s my son, and I’m going to your–
oh, I almost said “birthday.” I’m going to your 12 Day
Giveaway on December 9th. I’m your biggest fan.
[child talks indistinctly] My one birthday wish is
to meet you onstage, Ellen. I hope we can make that
come true. Literally,
you make my day amazing, make me so happy. And my son obviously loves you. – All right, Jocelyn,
come on down! [cheers and applause]
[upbeat music] So you were here how long ago? ‘Cause we gave tickets away to
12 Days on that particular show. When were you here?
– We were here November– What was it?
3rd, yeah. – So we gave away 12 Days and we gave away gift cards
as well, right? Tell everybody what you did
with the gift card. – With my gift card, I was able
to buy my first tree. – Your first Christmas tree.
– Yes. I haven’t had one in two years
’cause we couldn’t afford it, moving from New York to
California. So we bought it, we decorated
it, and with the remainder, we gave it to our friend,
a military family, and she bought her first tree. – Wow, that’s amazing. Good for you. So–
[cheers and applause] [cheers and applause] – Ellen–
– It’s beautiful. [cheers and applause] So you moved here–
you lived in Brooklyn, and your husband is in the Navy, and he had an opportunity
to come here. Yes, thank you.
[cheers and applause] [cheers and applause] So he had an opportunity
to come here, and I know people in Brooklyn,
families are tight, so you left–that was a really
hard decision that you left your family
in Brooklyn and came here and you have two kids,
how old are they? – Um, Jimmy’s two,
and Eva is nine months. – Wow, two and nine months.
– Yes. audience: Aw!
Yes. That’s a handful for you,
isn’t it? Look how precious, though. That–oh, they’re–
– Thank you. – Are you all wearing
the same color lipstick? What’s happening?
[audience laughter] [audience laughter] – Maybe.
[audience laughter] [audience laughter] – Like the photographer said, “Let’s just try lipstick
on this one.” [audience laughter] Well, anyway,
so I know how close, like I said, families are, and they haven’t even gotten to
see the kids. – They never met my daughter. – Because you’ve been here
so long. – Yes.
– So we wanted to Skype with your family–we thought
that would be amazing, ’cause you’re really tight
with your family. – Yes, I love them so much.
– Yeah. – Um, we–
so we couldn’t do it. So, instead we thought it’d be
better to have them here. – What?
What do you mean? [Christmas music plays]
[cheers and applause] – You’re really close–you
haven’t seen your brothers in– – In two years. – And y’all are really tight,
right? – Yeah.
– Oh, yeah. So you’re gonna–you’re gonna
meet the little kids, too. all: Oh, yes.
– For the first time. – ‘Cause we’re going to keep
them out here for several days so y’all get to spend time
together, okay? – Oh, my God!
Thank you, Ellen. Oh, my God, thank you.
[cheers and applause] [cheers and applause] – You have your first tree, and
I know that money has been tight so you want presents
under the tree, right? – Yes, that would be great.
– So we got you your first present to put under
the tree–Andy, bring it out. All right, Shutterfly wants
to help you share life’s joy, and so we’re gonna give you
$10,000. [cheers and applause] – Oh, my God!
[cheers and applause] Thank you so much!
[cheers and applause] – You’re welcome!
[cheers and applause]
