All The Namedrops On Young Thug’s ‘So Much Fun’ | Genius News

DELISA: Young Thug’s new album ‘So Much
Fun’ is here and it’s packed with some choice namedrops. Let’s take a look at a few. DELISA: Young Thug kicks off the album on
“Just How It Is” shouting out Street Fighter’s Ryu and Ken. DELISA: Later in the track, he includes a
possible double entendre to his frequent collaborator Lil Duke and the Disney character Duke from
‘Goof Troop.’ Chicago’s Juice WRLD has another Disney
reference shouting out the show ‘Handy Manny’ on “Mannequin Challenge.” DELISA: ‘So Much Fun’ includes a number
of references to athletes, beginning with Colin Kaepernick – the football quarterback,
who donned number 7, currently blackballed by the NFL for protesting police violence
by kneeling during the national anthem. DELISA: On “Sup Mate” Thug shouts out
one of Hip-Hop’s favorite wrestlers, Ric Flair. DELISA: Thugger shouts
out three basketball players: on “Jumping out the Window” he miscounts Robert Horry’s
7 NBA rings and speaks to Dwayne Wade’s deadly first step. DELISA: On “Cartier Gucci Scarf” Lil Duke
shouts out OJ Mayo’s three year stint with the Milwaukee Bucks. DELISA: Finally, Thugger gives a nod to Ron
Artest changing his name to Metta World Peace. DELISA: It’s not just basketball – Yankee
legend Babe Ruth gets a nod on “Cartier Gucci Scarf,” as well as football players
Odell Beckham Jr. on “Big Tipper” and a slick reference to Matt Ryan’s primary
receiver Julio Jones number 11 on “Circle of Bosses.” DELISA: Rappers get their share of namedrops
on ‘So Much Fun,’ too. DELISA: The late Nipsey Hussle, whom Thugger
collaborated with on 2016’s Thug Life’ and “I Do This” off of ‘Slauson Boy
2,’ gets a couple mentions. DELISA: Thugger also mentions fellow Atlanta
rapper and trap legend Jeezy on “Light It Up.” DELISA: But Thugger’s track “Lil Baby”
features a slew of shoutouts. He mentions 10 different friends and rappers,
all of whom he’s done songs with. DELISA: The exhaustive list includes fellow
Atlanta rappers like Future aka Pluto, 21 Savage, all 3 Migos, as well as NBA YoungBoy
aka YB, Uzi, Meek Mill, Lil Durk, and Drake. DELISA: Future, 21, Quavo and Uzi are all
featured at some point on ‘So Much Fun.’ DELISA: And though the title shares a name
with Quality Control’s Lil Baby, who’s also featured on the album, he wasn’t mentioned
on this particular song. DELISA: On “Jumped Out The Window,” Thug
mentions Lil Durk again, and later, on “Cartier Gucci Scarf,” shouts out the late Lil Peep. DELISA: But it’s not just rappers Thug namedrops,
he also includes a number of other famous faces, like former President of the United
States Barack Obama. THUG: I know how to simplify everything I know to simplify do the shit just like Obama. DELISA: Celebrities like the late Paul Walker
of the Fast and the Furious are included as well on tracks like “Light It Up,” …along
with media mogul Oprah Winfrey on “I’m Scared” and pop star Justin Bieber on “Cartier
Gucci Scarf,” who Thug’s also worked with in the past. DELISA: Thugger even dips into a bit of history,
mentioning former slave and abolitionist Harriet Tubman and King Tut of ancient Egypt. DELISA: And Thug throws in some other pop
culture references too on “Big Tipper,” like Godzilla. DELISA: Young Thug is known as somewhat of
a fashion icon, so of course, he devotes some bars to shouting out the people who always
keep him looking fresh. DELISA: Including Off-White creator Virgil
Abloh, celebrity jeweler Eliantte, and fashion design Dapper Dan. THUG: I am fashion. I don’t think I can get in no deeper. I wake up and breathe this. DELISA: Fans have been eagerly awaiting ‘So

both fans and the rapper himself got a great gift. DELISA: What’d we miss? Let us know in the comments below. DELISA: I’m Delisa with Genius News bringing
